The Return of the Sydney

Well, here I am again. It's been so long since I've posted on Daughter of the King that I almost forgot it existed!

Since my last update, which was way back in 2012, a lot of things have changed.

- I'm older (surprising, I know)
- I'm a little bit taller.
- I have nine siblings (the newest is due this September)
- I moved halfway across the country
- I own four pigeons
- I've taken up historical sewing (and hopefully historical reenactment one of these days)
- I love English Country Dancing
- And a whole lot more, which is what I'm here to talk about.

If you're still interested in following me- my adventures, my trials, my thoughts- I just started a brand new blog. Okay, okay, I haven't posted on it yet, but I plan to soon. My general goal for The Elliot Countenance is not entirely to present you with a day-to-day updates on local happening like Daughter of the King was, but to post on things such as:

-Sewing adventures
-An occasional short story
-Book reviews
-Writing tips
-Why I write
-Christian fiction- how we can improve it and how it can make an impact
-What projects I'm working on (everything from novels to Edwardian evening gowns to piano pieces)
-My life happenings in general

So, if you're interested, head on over to The Elliot Countenance and say hello! I'd love to see you there.

Camy and Splash

Today we got two lovely little Holland Lop rabbits. Their names are Camy and Splash. Camy is mine and Splash is Hallee's. We love them so much!  They are both girls. Here are some pictures.
Camy is a little less cuddly than Splash but she is good at posing!  The bunnies really are very small and in these pictures look a lot bigger than they really are.

Ice fishing

Last Monday me, my Dad, Hallee, Aleyna and Alexis all went ice fishing. You may understand why we didn't bring Georgia....Ice and George just don't mix well, at all.

Anyway sorry I didn't get any pictures of us fishing, I was so busy fishing I forgot.

I caught 3 fish but had to put one back, because he was tiny.

Hallee caught 3 but had to put one back too. She got TONS of tugs.

Aleyna got 1. It was one of the biggest.

Alexis got 2, but my dad got them for her.

After she got her fish Lexi walked around hugging it and saying " I love you fishy " wish I got a picture of that!

When we were cleaning the fish Lexi said " I want to cut out his eyes! " I nearly died laughing. But finally she came to the conclusion that she needed a knife that was sharper than a butter knife.

The whole time we were cleaning the fish my Mom made sure to stay as far away from the kitchen as possible. But I must say... it was a little gross when I cut one of the fishes eyes out for Lexi and all the fluid went everywhere...

We had a great time!

Georgia

So, since my little sister Georgia is so gifted at making trouble, I thought I'd write a post about her.
She is two-years-old. Her nick name is Turbo. This is her daily schedule:

7:00 Walk downstairs and make a HUGE mess in the living room.

7:15 Dump all her eggs off her plate and onto the floor.

7:20 Go to Mom and say " Can I watch Dora plora?" ( She is meaning to say Dora the Explorer )

7:50 Go ask Mom if she can watch " Deigo" because she "has a boo boo" (she thinks telling mom that she has a boo boo will get her whatever she wants).

8:20 Run upstairs and make the bedroom that was just cleaned a mess.

8:30 Run back downstairs, knock Jack down and go back upstairs.

8:31 Poke Abi in the face, then run back downstairs and knock Jack down again.

8:33 Come back upstairs and pull on the cats tails and say, " OHHH MIWWIE AND CAWVIN" (that is two-year-old speak for Millie and Calvin".

8:40 Go back downstairs knock Jack down AGAIN and jump from the arm of the sofa onto the sofa yelling.

8:50 Go try and give Jack a kiss and knock him down... AGAIN.

And I bet you can probably guess the rest of the day.

Also I would like to point out at 7:20 she had to make it all rhyme.

Join us next time when we feature........ Jack!

Kittens and Cocoa

Kittens and cocoa, they have almost nothing in common.

But I wanted to do a post on my wonderful, steaming, delightful, hot cup of cocoa and our new kittens.

It is finally cocoa weather!
I was ready for a nice hot cup of cocoa after I spent an hour snuggled up in a nice blanket reading Johnny Tremain, and now my mouth is filled with pure deliciousness. Ah fall is here!

Now for the moment I've been waiting for:

Calvin and Millie!

We got two kittens last Wednesday. One is a girl ( the calico in the picture ) and one is a boy.
( the white with orange spots on my lap )

We simply ADORE them! The morning after we got them Millie was chasing one of my little sisters Georgia. And of course Georgia was yelling " DON'T EAT ME! DON'T EAT ME!" over and over.

So now my family is blessed with two little kittens scampering about our home which is truly a miracle!
Here's the story:
If you know my dad at all you know he is NOT a cat person. I has detested them ALL his life! Well, a few weeks ago our neighbors' cat had three adorable little black kittens.
So I asked my dad if we could get at least one of them, and my dad (supposedly being anything but a cat person) said no, of course. But he did ask some questions about them. Then I started praying that if it was God's will we would be able to get kittens. And about one week later a good friend asked my dad if he wanted her to bring kittens when she came to visit. AND HE SAID SURE! I nearly fainted. Okay not really but I was soooooo exited! Are kittens are a gift straight from the Lord! Only He could have done this!

Monthly Video: October

This video was made...far too late at night...with far too silly girls...likely with far too much sugar. :)
